After a train derailed in Tejgaon, Dhaka’s rail connectivity with most parts of the country has been cut off. The accident took place near Tejgaon station around 5 pm today.
Railway Dhaka Division Divisional Transport Officer Khairul Kabir confirmed this to The Daily Star. He said, they are on the way to carry out the rescue operation.

Deputy Inspector of Dhaka Railway Police Sekander Ali told The Daily Star that a crane of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway project collided with the locomotive of the Dhaka-bound Titas commuter train. Some people were injured in this incident.

Although he could not confirm the number of casualties, he said the injured have been taken to hospital.
Meanwhile, Joydevpar Junction Station Master Mohammad Hanif Ali and Tongi Junction Station Master Md. Rakibur Rahman told The Daily Star that due to train derailment at Tejgaon, four passenger trains including Balaka Express and Kurigram Express are stuck at Joydevpur and Tongi on the Dhaka-Mymensingh railway.
