A teenager was hacked to death for protesting against evictions in Brahmanbaria

A teenager named Badsha Mia (17) was hacked to death in Nabinagar of Brahmanbaria. The murder happened last Saturday night in Badda village of Salimganj union of the upazila due to protest against eve-teasing. The police sent his body to the district headquarter hospital morgue for autopsy last Sunday afternoon. The deceased Badshah is the son of Abu Kalam Mia of that village. Four more people were injured in this incident. Two of the injured were sent to Comilla and Dhaka in a critical condition.

According to the police and locals, recently a teenage girl from Dhaka came to visit Badda’s neighbor Miad’s house in Badda village. Last Saturday the girl was on her way to the village market when some miscreants led by the neighborhood Anik harassed the girl. At that time the king protested the matter and had a quarrel with the evtizers. As a result of this, Anik and his associates called the king from the house at night and attacked the side of the house. At that time, the attackers cut him down and seriously injured him. Tarek, Mainuddin, Saiful and Jihad were seriously injured while coming to save the king. In the meantime, the Badshah died on the way to take the Badshah, Saiful and Jihad to Dhaka.

Meanwhile, after the incident, Popi Akhter, sister of the deceased named 21 people and filed a murder case at Nabinagar police station. The police have so far arrested four people named Ezhar named Russell Mia (32), Yunus Mia (35), Shakeel Ahmed (19) and Masud Mia (20) in this incident. The plaintiff in the case said, among our three sisters, the only brother is Badsha. My brother is not involved in the girl’s incident. They called my brother from home and hacked him to death.

Nabinagar Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Sirajul Islam said, Badshah was killed for teasing a girl. A case has been filed against 21 people, mainly Anik, in this incident. Police have already arrested four people. The police are working to arrest the main accused Anik and others. The body of the deceased has been handed over to the family after post-mortem at Brahmanbaria District Headquarters Hospital.
