Two children died after drowning in pond water in Sylhet’s Biswanath Upazila. The incident took place at the upazila Sadar on Sunday (April 21) around 5 pm.

The two deceased children are Rihan Attar Yachin (10) son of Siraj Mia of West Chandshirkapan village and Yusuf Ruhan (11) of Naihati village of Barhatra police station in Netrakana. They are cousins ​​and cousins.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Jayant Sarkar of Biswanath police station confirmed the matter.

Both Yashin and Ruhan are 3rd class students of Vishwanath Alia Madrasa. Yusuf Ruhan’s family has been living in Maynul’s residence in Bishwanath Puran Bazar for a long time.

According to police sources, Yashin and Ruhan fell in the pond near their house in Upazila Sadar around five o’clock on Sunday afternoon. After that, their family members did not find them and started searching. Later, their bodies were found floating in the water of the pond and taken to the Upazila Health Complex. The emergency department doctors there declared both of them dead.

Sub-Inspector (SI) of Biswanath Police Station Jayant Sarkar said that a group of police led by OC Rama Prasad Chakraborty recovered the bodies of two children at 5:30 pm on Sunday. Legal proceedings are ongoing in this regard.
