The Indian team will not go to Pakistan to play the Champions Trophy, according to the board sources. The Indian Cricket Board has demanded that the competition be moved to another country. This competition can also be in hybrid models. The Pakistan Cricket Board announced its decision after this news came to the fore.

An official of the Pakistan Cricket Board told the media, “The board chairman has made it clear that India-Pakistan bilateral series at neutral ground can be held only if India comes to play the Champions Trophy. Before that India has to agree. If they do not come to play in the Champions Trophy, there will be no match between the two countries in the coming days.”

The official also said that there is a difference in the board’s comments with India captain Rohit Sharma. He said, “What Rohit said and what the board is saying are completely different. From this it is understood that there is no problem for Indian cricketers to come and play in Pakistan. But politicians are causing problems. Every time they are the problem. Even if India does not come to play, the Champions Trophy will be in Pakistan. The ICC has already said that.”

BCCI has not yet officially announced any decision in this regard. According to board sources, Joy Shahera is adamant about not sending the Indian team to Pakistan. A board official said, “Forget bilateral series. The Indian team will not go to Pakistan to play the 2025 Champions Trophy. Displacement or hybrid models—convenience can be competitive. The board has to take permission from the central government to send teams to Pakistan. India-Pakistan relations are not yet at a place that the Center will allow.”

The Champions Trophy is an International Cricket Council (ICC) competition. Pakistan is the host country. India may be in trouble if they do not send a team. However, BCCI is thinking of not sending the team. The board officials may discuss the matter with the ICC officials after the next T20 World Cup. Board officials have practically nothing to do without permission from the center.
