Finch previously held the record for the highest runs as a captain in T20Is. This former Australian captain scored 2,236 runs in 76 innings. In other words, Babar broke his previous record by playing 10 innings less than Finch.
Babar overtook Finch in the third T20 match of the series against New Zealand in Rawalpindi on Sunday. Pakistan captain scored 37 runs in 29 balls with the bat in this match.
However, Babar could not win Pakistan by leading on his record day. New Zealand won this match by 7 wickets and tied the series at 1-1.
New Zealand captain Kane Williamson is third in the list of runs scored as a captain. This Kiwi batsman scored 2 thousand 125 runs in 71 innings.
