He favors leaving out two superstars like Hardik Pandya and Virat Kohli in his selection squad. Instead, he sees Krunal Pandya in the World Cup team. Manjrekar’s choice of openers is Yasswi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma. He also placed Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav in the top four.

Manjrekar advocated keeping three wicketkeepers – Sanju Samson, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant. His choices in the all-round category are Krunal Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja. Both Shivam Dubey and Hardik Pandya have been left out.

Manjrekar’s picks in the spin department are Jujvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav – both top performers on their day. Mohammed Siraj is not in that rhythm in the current IPL. However, Manjrekar remembers Siraj as Bumrah’s bowling partner in the World Cup squad.

His assessment of Kuldeep, “Kuldeep Yadav is in his best form when it comes to skill, confidence. As Bumrah, Chahal roam at the top, so is UN Kuldeep. He deserves that level of respect. Always willing to take responsibility. This is when he is at his best.”
