Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in Bangkok on a six-day official visit at the invitation of Thailand’s Prime Minister Shretha Thavisin. He was given a red carpet reception there.
The Prime Minister arrived at Bangkok Dong Mueang International Airport at approximately 1:08 PM local time on Wednesday (April 24).
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was welcomed at the airport by Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnbyrakul and the country’s Interior Minister Puangpet Chunlayad, Thailand’s Ambassador to Dhaka Makawadi Sumitmore, Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Thailand. Abdul Hai and Thailand’s Chief of State Air Vice Marshal Chumphon Khloipayan.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was given a red carpet welcome and formally given a guard of honour. Besides, Sheikh Hasina was welcomed and saluted by gunfire 19 times.
Earlier, at 10:13 AM, the Prime Minister and her entourage left for Bangkok from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-1403.
During this visit, he will attend the session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNSCAP) in addition to bilateral meetings with the King and Queen of Thailand and the Prime Minister.
During the visit, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will meet King Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida at the Royal Palace of Thailand.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hold a private and bilateral meeting with Thai Prime Minister Shretha Thavisin there. After the summit of the two prime ministers, the two countries are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding on energy cooperation, cooperation in the tourism sector, customs mutual cooperation, visa exemption agreement for government passport holders and free trade agreements.
In Bangkok, the Prime Minister will attend the 80th session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNSCAP).
