A topic has been discussed a lot on social media for a few days. The members of the extremely popular band ‘Black’ of the zero decade are becoming one. And they themselves have fueled this rumour. The latter gave a clear hint through a video content on Tuesday (April 23), that they are going to do something amazing together.
But what is that? Bangla Tribune tried to find that inside news. Khademul Jahan, the longest standing member of ‘BLACK’, was contacted. who is still involved with the band as a guitarist from the beginning. Jahan said that they are going to do a special show on May 10. Where a new song of ‘Black’ will be released. Besides, the official website of the band will also be opened. This event is the band’s first lineup reunion show. Where Dalchut Tahsan Khan, John Kabir, Miraj and Tony will perform again with the current members.
Jahan said, ‘We will perform together again on that day. It is going to happen after exactly 19 years. The last time we performed was on April 18, 2005 in an auditorium in Dhaka.
However, Jahan did not give details about the May 10 event. He said that the issues related to venue, ticket and promotion will be finalized today or later. Then it can be easily found on social media.
Khademul Jahan said about the plan to get on stage with his friends and teammates after a long day, “The audience of this time may have heard the name ‘Black’. But not many people had the chance to see our (old members) concert. Those who were in the audience 19 years ago, are much more excited. Because they thought they might never get Black’s lineup on stage again. We felt that pressing desire of the fans. That’s why I thought let’s do something like this. This show has been planned for a long time. As everyone has their own busy schedules, it was difficult to coordinate time. Finally possible. Tony lives in Canada. In fact the band moves at its own pace. A long time has passed. Everyone has moved forward in their own way. So there is no possibility of returning to the new band. But yes, we have an idea of doing such reunion on a bigger scale. Let’s see.’
It needs to be said that ‘Black’ had a show in Chittagong on 20 April 2005. But due to adverse conditions they had to return without performing. They met with an accident on the way back. Their sound engineer Imran Ahmed Chowdhury Mubin died in that accident. Bass guitarist Mirage and drummer Tony were injured. A year later, Tahsan, the band’s vocalist, left to pursue a solo career. After that, the other vocalist of the group, John Kabir, also formed a new band, Indalo.
It should be noted that the alternative rock band ‘Black’ was formed in 1999. It is also the name of the most popular band of the decade. The band has released five solo albums so far. These are ‘Amar Prithivi’ (2001), ‘After the Festival’ (2003), ‘Abar’ (2008), ‘Black’ (2011) and ‘Unmanush’ (2016). Besides, this band has also sung in several mixed albums.
Black’s current lineup is – Vocal Ishan Hussain, Lead Guitar Jahan, Bass Guitar Charles Francis, Drums and Percussions Farhan Tanveer.
