Banya received ‘Padma Shri’

Renowned Rabindra singer Rezwana Chowdhury Banya has received India’s fourth highest civilian honor ‘Padma Shri’. He received the award from President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi on April 22nd evening. Earlier in January last year, the list of nominees for 132 awards in the three categories of Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri was published. Finally, their memorial has been officially handed over. Among them, five have received Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan and 110 Padma Shri. According to the official Facebook page of the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, President Dr. Draupadi Murmu. Rezwana Chowdhury awarded Banya with the Padma Shri in Arts. He is an accomplished professional musician of Bangladesh, a dedicated practitioner of Rabindra Sangeet. Meanwhile Rezwana Chowdhury Banya is widely appreciated not only in Bangladesh but also in West Bengal of India. Initially, Rezwana Chowdhury got admission in Banya ‘Chayanat’ and later in Visva Bharati University in India. He also studied at Bulbul Lalitkala Academy.

He started a music educational institution named ‘Surer Dhara’. Apart from music, Rabindra was educated in classical, tappa and kirtan music. In 2016, Rezwana Chowdhury Banya received Bangladesh’s highest state honor, Independence Medal. He has received many awards including Feroza Begum Smriti Gold Medal, Citycell-Channel i Music Award, Anand Sangeet Award. He also received several medals in India. Notable among these is Bangabhushan.
