Raihan Rafi’s movie ‘Amimansit’ has been blocked by the Bangladesh Film Censor Board. After verifying the details of the movie, the board says that it contains brutal murder scenes. The content of the story, screenplay and dialogues are similar to reality. As such it is ‘not suitable for public display’.

Censor Board Deputy Director Md. Shahidul Alam Sacchu, the producer of the movie ‘Unsolved’ on Wednesday (April 25). This was informed in a letter signed by Moinuddin.

When the teaser of the movie came out on February 12, some of the viewers were saying that Rafi has made the movie based on a true story. Someone again finds a similarity with the murder of journalist couple Sagar-Rooney. Although no one related to the movie nor the Censor Board directly mentioned Sagar-Rooney’s name.

The Censor Board cited the reason for declaring the film ‘unscreenable’, saying, ‘It contains scenes of brutal murder. The content of fiction, screenplay and dialogues are similar to reality.’

The Censor Board says, ‘Such a story has actually happened and the case related to the incident is under trial in the High Court. The story/content of the film is similar to the pending case and may give wrong message and hamper the investigation.’

The Censor Board’s letter said that in view of the application on March 3, the film was examined by the members of the Censor Board the next day on March 4. It was then re-examined by board members on April 22 for further scrutiny. After the re-verification, there was a detailed discussion about the film in the board meeting.

In that meeting, the members of the Censor Board opined that the ‘Unresolved’ film is not suitable for public screening as the elements described in the first, fifth and seventh clauses of the Code for Censorship of Films in Bangladesh, 1 of 1985 exist. According to rule 16 (5) of the Bangladesh Censorship of Films Rules, 1977, the Censor Board has canceled the application for the film’s censor certificate or refused to grant the censor certificate. However, those concerned with the movie can appeal if they want, said the deputy director of the Censor Board. Moinuddin.

In this context, the producer Raihan Rafi wrote, “The movie has been matched with reality so it cannot be released!” The movie must be unreal!! Strongly protest the blocking of the web film ‘Unresolved’ by the Censor Board.

There can be no murder in the story of the movie? Throwing such a question, Rafi wrote, ‘The matter is like this, no journalist couple can be killed in any movie? Even after mentioning the fictional story, if there is a similarity with an incident, then it is like, Who is in Tagore’s house? I don’t eat bananas. So if a girl goes missing in the movie and is killed, it will be matched with Tanu of Comilla? If the body of a teenager is found in the river in the movie, will the murder of Narayanganj be combined with it?’

Stating that the movie has been stopped as sad, the director also wrote, “Unsolved movie has not proved anything, just shown the ideas of different people, still this movie is really sad to be stopped! No murder, no rape, no kidnapping, no disappearance can be shown in the movie. We are all angels, living in heaven. There is no murder, no disappearance, no rape. This is how the cinema of our country has to be tied hands and feet.

When its teaser was released on the internet on February 12, viewers said that it was also based on a true story by Rafi. What is the truth? After the release of the teaser, it can be seen from some comments on social media, they are pointing towards the murder of the famous journalist couple Sagar-Rooney. Even though an era has passed, the mystery of the event has not been opened yet. The case is pending in court.

The 40-second teaser revealed some important facts about the murders in the form of written dialogue. They are like this – ‘The murders took place between half past one and two o’clock in the morning. I think it’s a robbery case…’; ‘Journalists, neighbors, relatives all destroyed the crime zone signs. What was I to do?’; ‘No one killed them. They killed themselves’; ‘It’s definitely a strange case! Otherwise that day…’.

As seen in the poster of the movie, Imtiaz Barshan and Tanjika Amin are playing the lead roles. A few people stood behind them; Whose face is tied with a black cloth. But who they are, will be answered in the original film.

On February 29, OTT platform iScreen had announced the release of ‘Undecided’. But the date got pushed back due to Censor Board objections. Then the release was announced as a special Eid surprise. That didn’t happen later either.
