This week in Sylhet flood again!

It rains heavily in India every day. As a result of this, Sylhet has again warned of floods. The flood forecasting and warning center says that the water is rising rapidly in the rivers of Sunamganj and Sylhet district headquarters of Sylhet division. Short-term floods may start in the river-coastal and hilly areas here this week. However, as there are no crops in the Haor areas of the division, there is no risk of much damage due to flood water.

Arifuzzaman Bhuiyan, executive engineer of the Flood Forecasting and Warning Center, told the media that heavy rain has started upstream (in India). The rain is increasing in the country as well. As a result, some places in Teesta basin and Sylhet division are likely to experience floods for most of this week.

But Arifuzzaman Bhuiyan said there is little risk of rain and flood water lasting for a long time.

According to the observations of the Meteorological Department, monsoon may continue to rain for a few more days in different parts of Sylhet. Today (Sunday) may rain in most parts of Sylhet division.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BPAUBO) has predicted that all rivers in Bangladesh will rise due to heavy rains in India.

According to Paubo sources, in the next 48 hours, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in the northeastern part of the country (Sylhet) and some parts of adjoining India. As a result, the water of the main rivers of Sylhet and Sunamganj districts can rise rapidly especially during flat times.
