The police headquarters has ordered to strengthen the security of all police installations and weapons and ammunition, including police stations, across the country. On Friday (April 26), the additional IGP in charge of the operation department of the police headquarters. Anwar Hossain confirmed this information.
According to the instructions, at least three sentry posts should be constructed in all police stations across the country. Apart from this, instructions on how to resist in case of an attack on the police station or any police establishment have been sent from the police headquarters to all units.
According to police headquarters sources, Kuki-chin terrorists recently looted the weapons of police and Ansar members in Bandarban. This special instruction has been given by the police headquarters to avoid such incidents.
Additional IGP Md. Anwar Hossain said that all police units have been instructed to hold an alarm parade in view of the incident of armed robbery in Bandarban. But it is part of regular activities.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan Police has also issued a circular on strengthening the security of police stations and police establishments as per the instructions given by the police headquarters. This instruction has been given by issuing the circular on April 23.
According to the DMP circular, at least 3 permanent sentry posts should be constructed in every police station. However, in terms of actual conditions, this number may be more or less. Double sentry duty to be deployed at night.
Care should be taken not to leave excess number of policemen on leave or on other duty. Do not eat food given by outsiders. Keep the armory secure. If someone from outside enters the police station after a certain time at night, they are allowed to enter with checking and caution for the sake of security.
When asked about this, DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman said that this instruction has been given not for any specific threat, but to keep everyone alert.
