Dhaka: Although the terms of two committees (North and South) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Committee (North and South) of the Chhatra League, an affiliate of the ruling Awami League, did not form a full-fledged committee.
On April 23, BanglaNews published a news titled ‘Two Committees of Mahanagar Chhatra League not complete even after expiry of term’.
Three days after the publication of the news, on Friday (April 26), Dhaka Metropolitan South Chhatra League announced the full committee.
At that time, Sheikh Wali Asif Inan, general secretary of the Central Chhatra League, told BanglaNews that the committee will be given as soon as possible.
A total committee of 151 members has been formed. Where 2 president-general secretary and 71 vice-presidents. 11 people have been made joint general secretary. In addition, 11 organizing editors, 38 editors, 9 co-editors and 9 members have been kept.

Earlier on December 20, 2022 Riaz Mahmud was announced as the president and Sagar Ahmed Shamim as general secretary for Dhaka Metropolitan North and Rajibul Islam Bappi as president and Sajal Kundu as general secretary for Dhaka Metropolitan South.
Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader approved this committee for one year.
According to the constitution, Dhaka Metropolitan North and South Chhatra League branches get the status of organizational districts. Article 10(b) of the Constitution of Chhatra League states, ‘The term of office of the district branch is one year’.
But the term of the current committee expired on December 20 last year. Although the Central Chhatra League held on the same day was on July 14 last year and the Dhaka University branch was fully formed on February 19 this year. And the two one-year committees of Dhaka metropolis have expired according to the constitution but have not been fully formed.
Disappointment prevailed among the aspirants and activists as the committee was not fully formed even after 16 months. Anger has been noticed among the leaders and activists of the metropolitan branch of the Chhatra League. At the same time, an organizational crisis is created.
Although there are more than thirty units under the jurisdiction of Mahanagar North, new committees have been announced in only two units in the last sixteen months. In the last national election, the top two leaders of the metropolis could not announce the election management committee.
