Dhaka: Heat wave has been sweeping the country for 27 consecutive days, the longest period in 76 years.

Meteorologist Md. Shahinul Islam informed this information He said that the heat wave started on March 31, which is continuing on Friday (April 26).

In other words, the heatwave has been going on for 27 days. Before this, there was a heat wave for 24 consecutive days in 2023.

It is known that the data available in the Meteorological Office since 1948, this time is the longest heat wave. There is no sign of passing this month.

In a forecast, the Met Office said the day’s maximum temperature was recorded at 42.7 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga, which is the highest this season. The maximum temperature recorded in Dhaka was 38.2 degrees Celsius.

On April 20, the highest temperature in the country was recorded in Jessore at 42.6 degrees Celsius. And the maximum temperature recorded in Dhaka is 40.4 degrees Celsius. On this day, the temperature was recorded at 42.3 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga, 41.7 degrees Celsius in Mongla, 41.6 degrees Celsius in Ishwardi, and 41.2 degrees Celsius in Khulna.

On April 17, 2023, the highest temperature recorded in the country in the previous nine years was at Ishwardi, 43 degrees Celsius. And in May 2014, the highest temperature recorded in Chuadanga was 43.3 degrees Celsius.

On April 16, 2023, the temperature of Dhaka was the highest in the previous 58 years, at 40.6 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in Dhaka in 1965 was 42 degrees Celsius. Earlier in 1960, the maximum temperature of Dhaka was 42.3 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature recorded in Rajshahi was 45.1 degrees Celsius on 18 May 1972, a record that is still unbroken.

In the forecast. Shahinul Islam said that on Saturday (April 27) two or two places of Sylhet division may experience temporary rain/thunder with gust/storm and also scattered hailstorm at some places. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky.

Meanwhile, very intense heat waves are passing over Rajshahi, Chuadanga and Pabna districts and intense heat waves are passing over Tangail, Bogra, Bagerhat, Jessore and Kushtia districts. Mild to moderate heat wave is moving over the rest of Dhaka, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions along with Moulvibazar, Rangamati, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni and Bandarban districts along with Rangpur, Mymensingh and Barisal divisions and will continue.

Day and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country. There will be discomfort due to excess water vapor.

On Sunday (April 28) Sylhet division may experience rain/thundershower with gusty/gusty winds at two places along with scattered hail at some places. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky. The existing heat flow may continue. Day temperatures may rise slightly across the country and night temperatures will remain almost unchanged. Excess water vapor may cause discomfort.

On Monday (April 29) Sylhet division may experience rain/thundershower with gusty/gusty winds at a couple of places along with isolated hailstorm at isolated places. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky. The prevailing heat wave may continue.

Day temperatures may drop slightly across the country and night temperatures will remain almost unchanged. There will be discomfort due to excess water vapor.

Towards the end of the extended five days, the trend of rainfall is likely to increase over northeastern and southeastern parts of the country.
