Sirajganj: Three robbers were caught by the police after injuring the driver with a hammer and leaving him on the side of the road while fleeing with his auto-rickshaw.
The incident took place in Sialkol area of Sirajganj Sadar Upazila on Thursday (April 25) night.
Three robbers were arrested from Zarila area of Syedabad Union in the early hours of Friday (April 26).
The arrested are – District Sadar Upazila Chatiantali Village Md. Son of Abdur Razzak. Zia (22), Md. of the same village. Fazal Khan’s son Mohammad Saidul Islam (21) and Mohammad Abdullah alias Abdul (17).
The injured autorickshaw driver Saiful Islam (60) is the son of deceased Sujabat Ali of Chak Kobdaspara Mohalla of the city. He is undergoing treatment at the 250-bed Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib General Hospital in Sirajganj.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar police station on Friday afternoon. Sirajul Islam confirmed this information and said that the arrested robbers went to Sialkol area on Thursday night from Bazar station area of the city with the autorickshaw of the victim Saiful for a 100 taka rental contract. There he took a quiet place and hit Saiful on the head with a hammer from behind. When the victim became unconscious, the miscreants left him in the roadside drain and fled with the autorickshaw. When they went to Jarila area of Syedabad Union early on Friday morning, the patrolling police found their movements suspicious and detained them along with the auto-rickshaw. When they were interrogated, a search was conducted on the spot based on the information given by them. But the victim is not found there. On Friday morning, Sirajganj was admitted to the 250-bed Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital. When asked the injured Saiful, the details of the incident are known. Police is preparing a case in this incident.
