Bangladesh will stand by as a development partner

Dhaka: France’s ambassador to Dhaka, Marie Masdupui, said that France is fast becoming a development partner of Bangladesh. In the last 10 years, 1.8 billion euros have been given by the country’s development aid agency, Agence France Development (AFD).

Out of this, 110 million euros have been given in the last four years. France will stand by Bangladesh as a development partner.

He said these things at a function organized at a hotel in the capital on Thursday (April 25) on the occasion of the 10-year anniversary of AfD’s activities in Bangladesh.

Ambassador of France said at the event, FD is a traditional institution. Over the last 20-25 years it has spread all over the world.

Stating that the activities of AFD in Bangladesh are extraordinary, he said that if the organization’s activities are seen in the world, then we will see the story of Bangladesh as the most extraordinary. But why? Because the rate at which activities have expanded here is the highest in the world.

AfD’s office was opened in Bangladesh with limited resources 10 years ago, the French ambassador said, very soon Bangladesh and France will cooperate on the issue of climate change damage.

AfD’s Bangladesh Country Director Benoit Chaste said that the French President’s visit to Bangladesh last year was the biggest milestone. The future is very bright. We will focus on financing climate change adaptation.

Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Uttam Kumar Karmakar said that AFD helps in various sectors in Bangladesh. The company always gives soft loans. They do not give any hard loan. It is very good for us. Assistance between Bangladesh and France will increase in the future.
