Istiska Namaz was held in Rajshahi to avoid rain and continuous heat wave.
The prayer was held at the Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman Stadium ground in Terkhadia area of the metropolis on Thursday (April 25) morning. Combined Ulama Mashaikh Parishad of Rajshahi metropolis organized this Istiskar Namaz. After the prayer, the worshipers pray to Almighty Allah for rain. At this time, the worshipers broke down crying for heavy rain.
Maulana Abul Kashem Faruqi, teacher of Cantonment Board School and Khatib of Terokhadiya Paschimpara Jame Masjid, led the prayer. Local worshipers from the surrounding area participated in it. Among others, the President of the Metropolitan Ulama Mashaikh Council, Hafez Maulana Mahmud Mostafa Al Maruf, Maulana Abdul Karim, Maulana Ruhul Amin, Maulana Jamirul Islam, Maulana Shahidul Islam, Maulana Zakaria Habib, Maulana Yahya, Maulana Hasan Manun No, Bilal Hussain, Maulana Mahbubur Rahman, Maulana Shihab Uddin, Maulana Afzal Hossain, Maulana Rahmatullah and Ulama Mashaikhs and all levels of worshipers participated.
Earlier, Istiska prayers were offered in Bagha and Puthia upazilas of Rajshahi to get relief from the intense heatwave.
Meanwhile, Rajshahi region is affected by severe heat wave. From sunrise to sunset, the temperature drops at the same rate. Hot air pierces the body like fire. By noon, the temperature has gone above 41 degrees Celsius. A heat alert has been issued across Rajshahi for the past few days due to the situation. Like the rest of the country, educational institutions have also been declared closed.
Various types of crops including corn and jute in the fields are getting scorched due to continuous heat waves. Red Crescent Society, an international voluntary organization, has miked to be aware of the heat wave. They are giving precautionary advice to avoid various heat related diseases including heat stroke this summer.
