The former managing director of Pragati Industries Limited of Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation (BSEC) General Manager of BSEC has been accused of embezzling 29 lakh 67 thousand 720 taka. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case against 9 people including Tauhiduzzaman. On Thursday (April 25) afternoon, Deputy Assistant Director of ACC Chittagong Integrated District Office-1 Sabuj Hossain filed the case in the same office as the plaintiff.
In the case, allegations were made under Sections 409, 109, 420 of the Penal Code and Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
The other defendants in the case are the son of Nashir Uddin Ahmed of Lake Circus North Dhanmondi Road under Kalabagan Police Station of Dhaka South City Corporation, the owner of Trading Talent. Rahat Hasan, the former head of the production department of Pragti Industries Ltd. Kaykobad Al-Mamun, the former head of the marketing department. Saidur Rahman Jamali, former head of accounting department. Rezaul Karim, head of purchasing department. Chiddikur Rahman Dewan, former Deputy General Manager (Administration) Md. Humayun Kabir, mechanical engineer Biswajit Chowdhury and former engineer (mechanical). Hayat Mahmud.

It is mentioned in the statement of the case, the defendants colluded with each other through corruption, irregularity, fraud, criminal breach of trust and abuse of power, but the contract company supplied products worth Tk 55 lakh 83 thousand 830 from Malaysia, Thailand, except Japan. These products are taken by Pragati Industries in collaboration with each other. Besides, the bill vouchers were embezzled by showing false and fake receipts and quality certificates without accepting the goods from the contractor of 29 lakh 67 thousand 720 rupees.
