Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif

Before independence, Bangladesh was part of Pakistan. This town called ‘East Pakistan’ was considered a ‘burden’ by the then ruling group.

In the course of time, that ‘burden’ township has now surpassed Pakistan in various indicators of progress.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said he was ‘ashamed’ of Bangladesh’s unprecedented progress. He said this in an exchange meeting with business leaders of the country on Wednesday (April 24). News from Dawn Online.

After the partition of the subcontinent in 1947, this territory of Bengalis started to be ruled as a part of Pakistan. But in everything there was discrimination against the people of this town. The liberation struggle against the economic and social inequality of West Pakistan started once, which followed the war of independence in 1971. After nine months of war, Bangladesh emerged as an independent sovereign state on the world map. In the 53 years of independence, Bangladesh has advanced ahead of Pakistan in various economic indicators.

Shehbaz Sharif said referring to the period before the Liberation War, I was very young then…we were told that the region (Bangladesh) was a burden for us. Today you know, what stage that ‘burden’ has reached (in economic growth). I am ashamed to look at them now.

In the event, Shehbaz Sharif gave various suggestions to the businessmen of the country for the economic growth of Pakistan including increasing exports.

He also talked about trade with India. Besides, Shehbaz also expressed his flexible approach to PTI chief Imran Khan for ‘political stability’ in the country.

National elections were held in Pakistan last February. Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s brother Shehbaz won that election and became the Prime Minister.

Pakistan’s economy has been in shambles for several years. Shehbaz Sharif took charge of the prime minister amid various crises including inflation, poverty, and corruption.
