Correspondent: On Thursday, Plan International celebrated 30 years of glory in Bangladesh at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Grand Ballroom in Bangladesh. In this 30-year journey of glory, Plan International Bangladesh has been actively working in 40 districts of the country as an international development and humanitarian organization for the past three decades. In 1994, Plan International began its development efforts in Bangladesh by providing services and over time to underprivileged children in Bangladesh; In particular, it is dedicated to the empowerment of girls and young women, their education, protection, and development of their skills and leadership.

Kamal Abdul Nasser Chowdhury mentioned that “The work of the organization is not just to do routine work, but the work of the organization is to act as a catalyst for social change. Plan International Bangladesh is doing just that.”

Honorable Minister of State for Women and Children Affairs Begum Simin Hossain (RIMI); Campaign for Popular Education (CAMPE) Executive Director Rasheda K. Chowdhury; Human Rights Commission Chairman Kamal Uddin Ahmed; Bhagyashree Dengle, Regional Director – Asia Regional Office, Plan International; Sharon Kane, Director of Sub Region Asia Pacific, Plan International; He gave a speech on this occasion. In the meeting, Kavita Bose, Country Director of Plan International Bangladesh delivered the welcome address. Eminent representatives of ambassadors and high commissioners of various embassies, high-level government officials and representatives of international development organizations and community-based service organizations were also present on the occasion.

Plan International Bangladesh will work to establish equality and equal rights at all levels of Bangladesh. In the first part of the day-long program, the stories of various successes and achievements of Plan International Bangladesh were highlighted. These include a video documentary on 30 years of Plan International Bangladesh, testimonials from eminent personalities, Stories of Transformation: The Contribution of Plan International Bangladesh. The event also included launching of publications, commemoration of former plan workers. As part of the celebration, a panel discussion was organized with eminent panelists, which enriched the celebration. Panel discussion participants discussed climate change, empowerment of girls and young women, child rights, health, safety and education.

Over the past 30 years, Plan International Bangladesh has built strong ties with the country and community through dedicated efforts. Plan International has been creating an environment for adolescent and young women worldwide to take on leadership roles, challenging ongoing stereotypes. The organization has been successfully carrying out various developmental works in this country for prevention of child marriage, education, gender equality, sexual and reproductive health, protection and economic empowerment of girls and women, which are the main areas of work of this organization. In particular, in the last 10 years, Plan International Bangladesh has taken itself to new heights in meeting the rights and needs of the girl child with the support of the Government of Bangladesh, embassies, donor and partner organizations, volunteers, supporters, partner youth and youth groups.

With the goal of building resilience and human excellence, Plan Bangladesh has extended its helping hand as a moral duty during disasters and humanitarian crises and continues to work relentlessly. Notably, Plan International Bangladesh’s proactive approach to Rohingya refugee management in Cox’s Bazar has demonstrated a strong response to the crisis by addressing the needs of victims. The institute continues to provide quality services to humanitarian programs across the country through inclusive quality education, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and skills and opportunities for youth employment and entrepreneurship (SOYEE) with government support. Governments, embassies, donor and partner organizations, volunteers, supporters, partner youth and youth groups have relentlessly extended their support to Plan International Bangladesh, making this success possible.

For 30 years, Plan International Bangladesh has been working in partnership with the country’s government, local partners, local administration, families and communities. The plan believes that this concerted effort will accelerate progress towards eradicating child marriage, which will help ensure the country achieves its target of ending child marriage by 2041.
