Colorful arrangements on Port Day

Chittagong: The 137th Port Day was celebrated with colorful arrangements to commemorate the official opening day of the country’s main seaport. The then British-Indian government enacted the Port Commissioners Act in 1887 which came into force on 25 April 1888.

Chittagong Port Authority celebrates the day on 25 April every year.

Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail hoisted the national flag at Bandar Bhavan premises on Thursday (April 25) at the beginning of Port Day.

Member (Engineering) Commodore Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman hoisted the flag of the port. At this time, all the vessels and ships stationed at Chittagong port were blown a minute whistle.

After hoisting the flag, the port chairman cut the port day cake with the officials. At this time he exchanged greetings with everyone.

Chittagong Port Officers Association, Chittagong Port Employees Parishad, various stakeholders of the port along with various organizations extended greetings to Chairman Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail on the occasion of Port Day.

Earlier on Wednesday (April 24) on the occasion of the Port Day, the port chairman had an exchange of views with the journalists.
