Khulna: Bangladesh University Grants Commission Chairman (Additional Duties) Professor Dr. Muhammad Alamgir said, doing something is smart with the combination of responsible people with sensitive, humane, advanced mentality. For universities to be smart, they need to practice open-mindedness and creative work.

Students need to be prepared in such a way that they can lead others. For this, the best talents from the educated society should come to the teaching profession.

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the advisory meeting on the inclusion of youth leadership courses in the curriculum/co-curriculum in educational institutions to prevent extremism organized by Khulna University (Khubi) School of Social Sciences and Private Development Organization Transformation on Thursday (April 25) afternoon.

Dr. Muhammad Alamgir said universities are governed by their own laws. They have freedom in curriculum development. Universities may include courses on leadership in addition to academic subjects. In this case UGC will be more happy. He sincerely thanked Paramvan for organizing such a consultative meeting and involving the universities in this matter.

The meeting was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahmud Hossain. He said that various initiatives are being implemented to make the students of Khulna University smart citizens. Developing leadership skills in students is an important factor in developing them as smart citizens. Today’s students will lead Bangladesh in the future and move the country forward on the path of prosperity.

Dr. Mahmud Hossain said, change is not possible alone. Everyone in the university should unite and bring about change. Because nothing can be done without society. For this reason, he urged the concerned to include this subject in the academic subjects in the university even if it is limited.

Khulna University Registrar (Acting) Professor Khan Golam Quddus spoke as a special guest in the meeting. Dean of the School of Social Sciences gave a welcome speech. Abdullah Abu Saeed Khan. Professor of economics discipline presented the key note paper. Md. Nasif Ahsan. The program was conducted by Shahadat Hossain Bachchu, Project Director of Transformation.

Professor Kamal Pasha, Chairman of Anthropology Department of Rajshahi University, Poonam Chakraborty, Associate Professor of Law Discipline of Khulna University, Sheikh Marufur Rahman, Nusrat Jahan Bushra, Sumaiya Ananya Purna, Ujjal Saha, Mehbub Hossain Mithun spoke in the open discussion session. The open discussion session was moderated by the Executive Director of Transformation Rafiqul Islam Khokon.

Teachers of six public and private universities including Khulna University, Rajshahi University and students participating in youth leadership courses participated in this meeting.
