Dhaka residents are falling into the trap of new fraud every day. Many people have lost their lives in the clutches of various fraudsters including Malam Party, Ajyan Party. A new cycle is found, who first asks to read a paper; Then the real thing happened. The person who reads the paper instantly loses control over himself, falls into the clutches of the fraudulent cycle. Give everything to cheaters. Many times the victim also becomes unconscious. Purnendu Talukder, a resident of the capital Dhaka, described one such incident.
On Thursday (April 25), Purnendu Talukder said in a post on his Facebook, ‘I came alive for a bit; Today after office I went to a hospital in Shyamoli to see a sick friend. I was coming by bus. Get down at Dhanmondi Road No. 27 junction, cross the road and go to Shankar. Just as I crossed the road at the zebra crossing, someone waved to me from behind and before I could look back, he wanted to bring a paper in one hand and bring it to my face. He said, “What is this?”
He also said, ‘I read the same story on Facebook a few days ago. Last 2 days while buying cold drinks in a shop, I heard the same story with a boy. He gave everything he had. He wanted to withdraw 10,000 rupees from that shop, but the shopkeeper saw his condition and did not allow him to withdraw the money, but sent him home.’
Purnendu Talukder said, ‘Because I know these two incidents, I did not remove my face in less than 1 second after seeing that hand with the paper from behind. But that didn’t help either. After crossing the road, my legs went numb and then my hands. I realize something bad is going to happen to me. I didn’t even look back at the man. Looks like a beggar. Wearing lungi and white shirt. Beard on face, shirt unbuttoned. Crossing the road, I saw how many rickshaws, I got into the rickshaw. Getting into the rickshaw, I can no longer say where to go. Before the rickshaw driver spoke, I saw a gesture of pulling the rickshaw. Maybe the syndicate members, then there was no one to trust. Sitting in the rickshaw, I try to keep my brain active and don’t breathe frequently so that I don’t lose my senses. It’s like it’s getting empty inside the chest.’
He said, ‘Even if you don’t look at the paper, this is the situation. When Shankar comes, I can bring myself under control. The rickshaw stands in a jam. I got down and went downstairs. It was not the situation where I would take out the phone and call someone while in the rickshaw.’
Purnendu Talukdar said, ‘I came downstairs and found an elder brother I knew and told him everything. Then he and another brother went out to find him. Covered a fairly good area but couldn’t find it.’
By warning everyone, he said, ‘Nothing happened like this time. Ever since I got off the rickshaw I have been fairly well. My friends, relatives who are in my friend list, never even look if someone gives such a paper. And if it happens then go to any showroom or trusted place nearby. Believe me it won’t take a millisecond to subdue you. As I said before, ‘Brain Works Like Pattern’ is the reason I survived. I have read and heard these things. So as soon as I see the paper, the brain understands and the subconscious mind removes my face. Because things will happen so fast you won’t be able to realize anything, by then it’s too late. If I had taken the paper or had a little more time, maybe I would have lost everything and become destitute on some road. And I couldn’t do any action or take pictures right away, because I realized what was going to happen before I got home. Be careful yourselves, keep others too.’
Incidentally, people are subdued with a dangerously addictive chemical called scopolamine. Also known as ‘Satan’s Breath’ or ‘Devil’s Breath’.
It impairs the brain’s decision-making ability. Crooks use it to rob people unconscious. Today it is widely used as a narcotic or as a hallucinatory drug. Its damage is many times higher than cocaine. This drug has emerged as a new threat in Bangladesh.
Its effect is so terrible that it can easily bring a person under its control in seconds. As a result, many business and corporate sectors are also used by executives to gain their own interests.
The motto of this drug is to force others to follow their orders. Victims are hypnotized and put under the control of criminals.
It is applied in various ways and techniques. For example, through a handshake, through smell, with food, through a note, with a soft drink, by blowing in the air.
German scientist Albert Ladenberg first started researching this drug produced in Columbia in 1880. It was first applied to prisoners in 1922.
