Strict access to journalists in Bangladesh Bank

Generally journalists have free access to Bangladesh Bank. However, journalists have not been able to enter Bangladesh Bank for the past one month. Dissatisfaction arose among media workers. Angry journalists took a stand in front of Bangladesh Bank on Thursday (April 25).

On the other hand, a two-member representative led by Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) President Mohammad Refayet Ullah Mirdha and General Secretary Abul Kashem held a meeting with Bangladesh Bank Governor Abdur Rauf Talukdar to resolve the matter.

At the end of the meeting, the Executive Director and Spokesperson of Bangladesh Bank Mejbaul Haque told the journalists that according to the decision of Bangladesh Bank, from now on journalists can only come to the spokesperson with the specific permission (entry pass) of the bank. However, if an official of the central bank gives a pass to the journalists, they can only go to that official and cannot go to any other floor.

But as before they (journalists) cannot freely enter any department.
