An audio of police selling heroin to drug dealers in Rajshahi has been leaked. The policeman is working as a constable in the Intelligence Branch (DB) of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP).
In the leaked audio call recording lasting three minutes and 33 seconds, a woman can be heard offering to sell drugs. He is also heard encouraging him to continue drug dealing. A copy of the leaked audio has been handed over to Rajshahi media workers.
Recently Constable Mahfuz called and spoke to Selim’s wife Umm Khatun of Bankir Mor area of Rajpara police station in the city. He is accused of multiple drug cases and identified drug dealer.
In the audio of the conversation between the two of them, the constable can be heard saying, “I think you will take 3 grams of stuff, on the other hand, the woman is saying that she is a drug dealer, don’t catch me again with the stuff.” Saying from the other end, oh no, I won’t catch it. The woman says, are you Raiga Achen or above me? Constable says your crazy son keeps talking about me. Take that thing, I will give it to you. If you come alone. The woman said, “There is no one in the shop, but I am coming alone.”
When contacted to know the matter, Umm Khatun’s son Samrat said, ‘Mahfuz of the DB police sold heroin to us three times. On the day of the leaked audio, he called to sell 3 grams of heroin. Earlier he sold 14 grams of heroin.’
However, Constable Mahfuz claimed that the voice in the leaked audio was not his, denying the sale of heroin. He said, ‘These allegations against me are not correct. DC sir knows about audio. They are trying to frame me.’
According to DB Police sources, Constable Mahfuz has been working with DB Police for three years. He is accused of taking large amount of maswara from drug dealers in the name of senior officials. Since he has been working in the DB Police for a long time, he has developed an affinity with drug dealers.
RMP Intelligence Branch Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Ruhul Amin Sarkar said that strict action will be taken against any policeman involved in drug dealing. The allegations against Constable Mahfuz, including the leaked audio, are being investigated. If the matter is correct, departmental action will be taken against him, he said.
