Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz, Justice Shahinur Islam and Justice Kashefa Hossain have taken the oath of office in the Appellate Division of Bangladesh Supreme Court.

Chief Justice Obaidur Hasan administered the oath to them at the Judges Lounge of the Supreme Court on Thursday.

Judges of Appellate Division and High Court Division were present at the swearing-in ceremony. The oath ceremony was conducted by the Registrar General of the Supreme Court. Golam Rabbani

The oath ceremony started at 10:30 am. Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz took the first oath. Later Justice Shahinur Islam and Justice Kashefa Hossain read the oath respectively.

Later, the ceremony ended with a photograph taken with the Chief Justice.

The Ministry of Law issued an order on Wednesday appointing these three judges who served in the High Court to the Appellate Division. With three of them, the number of judges in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court is eight.

Apart from Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan, the remaining four are Justice M. Inayetur Rahim, Justice Md. Ashfaqul Islam, Justice Md. Abu Zafar Siddiqui and Justice Jahangir Hossain.

The newly appointed Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafeez was born on June 1, 1957. That is, his tenure is up to June 1.

After obtaining LLB Honors and LLM degrees from Dhaka University, Abdul Hafeez was enrolled as a lawyer in the Dhaka Judge Court in 1982 and in the High Court Division of the Supreme Court in 1985.

He was appointed to the High Court as an Additional Judge on 27 April 2003. His appointment to the High Court became permanent on 27 April 2005.

Justice Shaheenur Islam was born on April 7, 1958. He studied law at Rajshahi University. He started his judicial career as a Munsef on 20 April 1983.

On January 13, 2001, he was promoted to the post of District Judge and served as District and Session Judge in Narail and Habiganj districts. Served as a member of the Administrative Tribunal in Dhaka in the same capacity.

After serving as the Registrar of the International Criminal Tribunal since 2010, he became a Judge of the Second Tribunal on 22 March 2012.

On 5 August 2013, he was promoted to the post of Additional Judge of the High Court Division. Later, he was sent as a judge to the International Criminal Tribunal-2.

Justice Md. served as chairman of the tribunal for seven years. Shahinur Islam was taken back to the High Court Division last February.

Justice Kashefa Hossain, daughter of late Justice Syed Mohammad Hossain, was born on July 1, 1958. After graduation (Honours) and Post Graduation in English Literature from Dhaka University, he took LLB. Later he did LLM from University of London.

He was enrolled as an advocate in the Judges Court on 12 October 1995; Later on 27 April 2003 he was listed in the High Court.

Kashefa Hossain was appointed to the High Court as an additional judge in 2013. After two years he was made permanent in that post.
