Yunus is the new chairman of Chittagong Development Authority

Freedom fighter Mohammad Yunus has been appointed as Chairman of Chittagong Development Authority (CDA).

The appointment was made in a notification signed by Bhaskar Debnath Bappi, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Public Administration, on Wednesday (April 24).

It has been said that according to Section-7 of the Chittagong Development Authority Act, 2018, Mohammad Yunush has been appointed as Chairman of the Chittagong Development Authority for a period of three years from the date of his joining on the condition of severing working relationships with other institutions and organizations. This office order was issued in public interest by order of the President.

Mohammad Yunus will replace the present chairman of CDA, M Zahirul Alam, as Dolphin Dolphin. City Awami League vice-president Dolphin’s term as chairman ends on Wednesday (April 24).

Chittagong Liberation War Victory Mela Parishad General Secretary Mohammad Yunus is known to be close to late ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury in Chittagong politics.

Mohammad Yunuch, who joined BCL from school level, served in various positions of BCL and Awami League. He was the president of Chittagong Municipal High School Chhatra League in 1968-69. In 1970, he became the deputy general secretary of the city Chhatra League. On March 2, 1971, Muhammad Yunus was one of the few student leaders who burnt the national flag of Pakistan at Laldighi ground in the city.
