Voting will be held next Sunday (April 28) in 25 unions and two municipalities of the country. The central bank has instructed that all branches and sub-branches of the banks located in these areas will remain closed.
According to the instructions of the Central Bank, according to the notification of the Ministry of Public Administration, general elections of 19 unions and by-elections in six unions will be held on Sunday (April 28). Besides, by-elections will be held for the vacant post of Mayor of Jaldhaka Municipality of Nilphamari District and Katakhali Municipality of Rajshahi District. All branches and sub-branches of banks located in these constituencies will remain closed.
Union Parishads which will hold general elections are: South Hamchadi Union, Dalal Bazar Union, Laharkandi Union, Tewariganj Union and Bangakha Union of Laxmipur Sadar Upazila. Birol Union, Azimpur Union and Farakkabad Union of Birol Upazila of Dinajpur. Puthia Union of Puthia Upazila of Rajshahi District.
Besides, general elections will be held in Kamalapur and Bhuria Unions of Patuakhali Sadar Upazila, Amtali Union of Amtali Upazila of Barguna, Alipur Union of Satkhira Sadar, Kuti Union of Kasba Upazila, Islampur, Islamabad, Jalalabad, Eidgaon and Pokkhali Unions of Brahmanbaria Kasba Upazila. Besides, elections for vacant posts will be held in Kutubpur Union of Badarganj Upazila of Rangpur, Golappur Union of Kachua Upazila of Bagerhat, Maijpara Union of Narail Sadar, Azampur Union of Maheshpur Upazila of Jhenaidah, Ariyal Union of Munshiganj Tongibari Upazila and Chikondandi Union of Hathazari Upazila of Chittagong on April 28.
