Chittagong: Chittagong Zoo in the city’s Foy’s Lake area has new guests at the Tiger Raj and Baghini Pari houses. The flock gave birth to three cubs on April 9.

One of them was dead. The other two are girls.

Zoo curator Shahadat Hossain Shubo confirmed this to BanglaNews.

He said that after five years without a tiger, Chittagong Zoo bought a pair of tigers named Raj Pari from South Africa for 33 lakh rupees in 2016. A white tiger comes to their house. Now as a result of breeding, the number of tigers in Chittagong Zoo has reached 19. Among them 13 girls, 6 boys. In total there are now 5 rare white tigers.

A tiger cub at the Chittagong Zoo has been named Joe Biden in honor of the US President who signed the Paris Climate Change Agreement. The tiger was born on 28 December 2020. Tiger Joe Biden was abandoned by his mother soon after birth and brought up under the management of Chittagong Zoo. After a year of rearing, the re-introduction process is completed as a member through socialization with the caged tiger family. After reaching adulthood, he started his own family for the first time this year with Baghini Jaya, who was born in July 2018. The cycle of domestication by humans and reintegration into the tiger family is a rare occurrence.

Joe Biden’s 3 cubs, born on February 23, were named – Empress, Tejaswini and Vijayini.

A pair of hippos from Bangladesh National Zoo was brought to Chittagong Zoo through animal exchange with a pair of tigers born in Chittagong Zoo last year.
