Bangladesh National Parliament Deputy Speaker Md. Wei Xiaoming, Vice Chairman of China’s Anhui Provincial People’s Congress, had a courtesy call on Shasul Haque Tuku.
On Wednesday (April 24), the Deputy Speaker paid a courtesy visit to his office at Jatiya Sangsad Bhawan. During the meeting, they discussed in detail the development of bilateral relations, expansion of trade and repatriation of Rohingyas.
Deputy Speaker said that China is one of Bangladesh’s development partners. China’s role in infrastructural development including construction of electric plants, roads and communications, bridges and railways in Bangladesh is commendable. China has gained expertise in renewable energy, seeking China’s cooperation in investing more in solar and agricultural technology in Bangladesh.
He said that many products including clothes made in Bangladesh have a good reputation all over the world, China can import those products from Bangladesh. Duty-free access of more Bangladeshi goods to the Chinese market is needed to balance the trade between the two countries.
Referring to Bangladesh as one of the most important friendly countries, China’s Vice Chairman said that cooperation between the two neighboring countries will continue in matters of mutual interest. Under the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has a good investment environment. We are keen to invest more. China’s role in solving the Rohingya problem of friendly Bangladesh has always been positive.
Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen, senior officials of Chinese Embassy, Parliament Secretariat and media workers were present at this time.
