The High Court has asked for the list of how many Rohingyas have been voted in Cox’s Bazar district.

A bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Kazi Zeenat Haque passed the order while hearing a writ petition on Wednesday.

Voter of Eidgaon Union of Cox’s Bazar Sadar. On behalf of Hamidur Rahman, Supreme Court lawyer Mohammad Chiddiq Ullah Mia filed a writ petition. He heard the petition in court.

Chiddiq Ullah Mia told bdnews24.com that instructions were sought to submit the list of how many Rohingya citizens have become voters in Cox’s Bazar. At the same time, a request was made to exclude Rohingyas from the voter list.

“38 Rohingyas have taken National Identity Card (NID) of Bangladesh after being included in the voter list of Eidgaon Union of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila. Their list is appended to the writ. Besides, hundreds of Rohingyas have taken citizenship in the same union.”

The lawyer said that after the hearing, the court ordered the DC of Cox’s Bazar to submit the list of Rohingya voters in the district by June 6.

Local Government Ministry Secretary, Election Commission Secretary, Cox’s Bazar District Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police have been made defendants in this writ case.
