There is no relief in Chuadanga for the last two weeks due to intense heat wave. The Meteorological Office has recorded the maximum temperature of 41.2 degrees Celsius in the district today at 3 pm on Wednesday.

Giving this information, Jaminur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Chuadanga Meteorological Office, told The Daily Star, ‘The temperature today has increased by two degrees Celsius compared to yesterday. Such a situation may continue throughout the month of April.

In this situation, the number of people suffering from heat-related diseases is increasing in the hospital. 114 people including children are admitted with diarrhea in Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.

According to the District Meteorological Office, the temperature has increased again in the district today compared to the last few days. However, there was drizzle in different areas of the district last night.

However, with the onset of heatwaves during the day, the discomfort in public life has increased. People are taking shelter in the shade of trees. But there is no peace even in summer.

According to the information of the district headquarter hospital, there are 73 children admitted with heat-related diseases against 25 beds in the children’s ward of Chuadanga headquarter hospital. And 114 people including children are admitted with diarrhea.

More than 500 patients are receiving treatment in the outpatient department of the hospital every day. Doctors are struggling to provide medical services due to the pressure of patients.

Asma Khatun, who came to the hospital’s infant ward for treatment with her one-year-old daughter, told The Daily Star, ‘My daughter has pneumonia. I was admitted to the hospital yesterday. It’s very crowded here. As there is no space inside the ward, we have to take treatment in the balcony.’

Pediatrician Asadur Rahman Malik Khokon of Chuadanga Sadar Hospital told Daily Star, ‘In this intense heat, children are suffering from various heat-related diseases. In this case, children should be more careful. Children should not be taken outside in summer. It should be kept under the air of the fan.
