The election of the executive committee of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) for the period 2024-26 is going to be held on May 8.

In this election, Chief Operating Officer of Loosely Coupled Technologies Syed Naushad Jahan Promi is contesting for ‘Team Smarte’, Syed Nafisa Reza Varsha, Managing Director of Digidot Limited and Farzana Kabir Ishita, Chairman of SRRK IT Limited are contesting for Team Success.

After graduating from Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET) in Computer Science and Engineering, Syeda Naushad Jahan Promi started her career in 2006 as a junior software engineer in the American company Von Air International Corporation.

He did not go to America, he started working in a world-class organization from Bangladesh. He started working as a project manager of Seep Dialer project in the same company from 2009. Began to work in the manufacture of American products. Promir’s products and services have achieved customer satisfaction in the American market with their skills and dedication. Confidence increases in oneself. From world-class product system solutions to technology development, his expertise and experience encouraged him to become an entrepreneur.

Entrepreneur Promire was born in 2010 while on maternity leave when her first daughter was born. He established his own organization ‘Together Initiative’. In between joined SSD-Tech as Senior Portfolio Manager (Product). Along with his duties as chairman of the Together Initiative, SSD-Tech also held important responsibilities. In addition to serving as Senior Portfolio Manager (Product), Promee has also served as Senior Portfolio Manager (Capacity Building). Along with this the grad completed HBX ‘Credential of Readiness’ (Core) in Business Analytics, Economics, Financial Accounting from Harvard Business School (Online).

In 2017, LCT Solutions Center started its journey as the development center of Loosely Coupled Technologies in Bangladesh. Promi worked efficiently there too. He then joined Loosely as Global Chief Operating Officer, a shareholder and director of the global holding company of Coupled Technologies since 2019. Promi gave importance to the country in the brilliant technology career. Promi could have worked in any developed country in the world if he wanted. There were opportunities. But the conviction was to work from the country for the world market.

He wants to use his technical skills and experience in this long working life for the development of the country’s information technology sector. Want to be a partner in realizing the dream of Smart Bangladesh. So promi has participated in this year’s base election. He feels that his experience in IT will be a positive addition to BASIS leadership. Besides, the mega plan of the government to fulfill the dream of Smart Bangladesh, there is enough opportunity for domestic industries to work. Where men and women are all equal. To capitalize on these opportunities, domestic software companies need to become more IT-savvy and technically agile in securing rights. Promi wants to work on these issues. Because he believes that software companies have that potential in the local market. All that is required is an overall smart approach.

After completing his studies in Electrical and Telecommunication Engineering from North South, a renowned private university of the country, he started working in the domestic software company ‘Team Engine’. During the first five years of his career, Varsha spent a long time as a Project Coordinator (Research and Development Department) with the OCR software development team of ‘TeamEngine’. After that, he left his job against the family’s reluctance and came to the IT business of his own accord. He built his company GGDOT Limited. Varsha has been working with reputation for providing advanced digital marketing services for more than 9 years.

They have various organizations in the country and outside the country in their customer list. In nine long years, Digidot has advanced on its own responsibility. Exceeded the country’s limits. This time, he wants to use his experience of working in his company to work for the country and the industry. And because of that desire, Basis came to the election. Barsha wants to increase the participation of women entrepreneurs in BASIS from 3 percent to 20 percent if he wins.

She believes there are ample opportunities for women to work in IT. They should be encouraged to take this opportunity and increase involvement. Besides, Varsha wants to work in marketing and branding for the country in the international arena by utilizing the experience he has in working in digital marketing at home and abroad. At the same time, Barsha also promised to reduce the distance between the executive committee and the general members and focus on improving the mutual relationship for the development of the base.

Farzana Kabir Ishita holds a Master’s Degree in Science from NorthSouth University. Although his professional career started 14 years ago, he started his business career in 2015 by establishing SRRK IT Limited. Serving as chairman, besides working as a business consultant for some other organizations.

ERP Software and Educational Management Software developed by SRRK IT Limited have a good reputation in the domestic and foreign markets. Ishita’s IT organization is one step ahead in using the latest technology. ERP software developed by them is being used in more than seven garment factories in the country. Apart from this, their educational management software is being used in more than 1000 schools. It has already gained the trust of buyers in the global market.

She thinks that the problems that she has faced as a woman while doing business, may be faced by everyone. So the experience gained in dealing with these can help others. So he wants to come to the leadership of BASIS as one of the members, to work to solve the problems of the members. In addition, the role of the organization is important in the problems that the members have personally dealt with in their careers.

Especially for members who want to work in information and networking collaboration. From that place he wants to lead and work to solve problems. Also wants to create a welfare fund for members. Because Ishita believes that leadership is the courage to stand by members in danger. He also wants to create a separate tech innovation hub for women to encourage leadership.

Voting for the BASIS election will continue on May 8 from 10 am to 5 pm at Rawa Convention Center in the capital. The results of the election will be announced on the same day.

The total number of voters in this election of BASIS is 1 thousand 464 people. Among them 932 ordinary, 389 associates, 138 affiliates and 9 international member voters. The total membership of BASIS is two thousand 401 people.

TIM Nurul Kabir as Chairman and Syed Mamnoon Quader and Nazim Farhan Chowdhury as 3 member Election Board has been constituted to conduct the election of BASIS. A three-member election appeal board has also been constituted. The Appellate Board is chaired by A Tauhid and members Abdullah H Kafi and Nazneen Kamal.
