Bangladesh Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade Affairs of Mauritius, Monish Gobin.

The meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mauritius on Wednesday (April 24) morning local time.

In the meeting, the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting of Bangladesh held an important discussion with the Foreign Minister of Mauritius regarding bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and Mauritius. At this time, the Minister of State for Information urged the Foreign Minister of Mauritius to invest in the Special Economic Zone of Bangladesh.

The Minister of State for Information informed the Foreign Minister of Mauritius that Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina considers the relationship between the two countries very important, noting that there are many similarities between Bangladesh and Mauritius in terms of ethnography and culture.

In the meeting, the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting discussed with the Foreign Minister of that country about the recruitment of more workers and professionals from Bangladesh to Mauritius. Besides, the Bangladeshi State Minister for Information and Broadcasting sought the cooperation of the Mauritius government in order to send remittances to the country quickly so that the Bangladeshi workers working in Mauritius.

Since Mauritius is the gateway to the African continent, the Minister of State for Information highlighted the possibility of increasing Bangladeshi investment in the African continent through the investment of Bangladesh in Mauritius.

After the meeting, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting of Bangladesh invited Mauritius Foreign Minister Monish Gobin to visit Bangladesh.

It should be noted that Bangladesh Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat is currently staying in Mauritius to participate in the first ministerial conference on drug trafficking and drug abuse in the Western Indian Ocean region.
