Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat held a bilateral meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade Affairs of Mauritius Monish Gobin.

The meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country on Wednesday (April 24) local time in Mauritius. This information was informed in a press release of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

In the meeting, the Minister of State for Information discussed bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and Mauritius with the Foreign Minister of Mauritius. At this time, the Minister of State for Information urged the Foreign Minister of Mauritius to invest in the Special Economic Zone of Bangladesh.

Stating that there are many similarities between Bangladesh and Mauritius in terms of ethnography and culture, the Minister of State for Information informed the Foreign Minister of Mauritius that Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina considers the relationship between the two countries very important.

In the meeting, the Minister of State for Information discussed with the Foreign Minister of that country about the recruitment of more workers and professionals from Bangladesh to Mauritius. Besides, the state minister sought the cooperation of the Mauritius government so that the Bangladeshi workers working in Mauritius can send remittances to the country quickly.

Since Mauritius is the gateway to the African continent, the Minister of State for Information highlighted the possibility of increasing Bangladeshi investment in the African continent through the investment of Bangladesh in Mauritius.

After the meeting, the Minister of State for Information invited Mauritius Foreign Minister Manish Gobin to visit Bangladesh.

It should be noted that State Minister Mohammad Ali Arafat is currently in Mauritius to participate in the first ministerial conference on drug trafficking and drug abuse in the Western Indian Ocean region.
