Khulna: The boatmen of different ghats of Rupsa river and Bhairab river are happy to get the umbrella of Sofikur Rahman Palash, President of Khulna Metropolitan Jubo League in the intense heat.
Sofikur Rahman Palash gave umbrellas to about 200 sailors at Rupsa, Jailkhana and Kalibari Ghats on Wednesday (April 24) at noon.
Former Vice-Chairman of Rupsa Upazila Parishad Aiyur Mallik Babu along with leaders and activists of Jubo League and Chhatra League were present at this time.
Shahadat Hossain, general secretary of Rupsa Ghat Majhi Sangh, said, we sailors are very happy to receive the umbrella of the president of the Mahanagar Jubo League. We don’t have to suffer from sun and rain anymore.
Safikur Rahman Palash told BanglaNews that the working people are getting tired in excess of heat. Due to which normal life is disrupted. Boats ferry people from morning till night. Burned by the sun, wet by the rain, he crossed from his own responsibility. Realizing their suffering, 200 sailors have been gifted with umbrellas on a personal initiative. Umbrella distribution activities will continue at various Kheya Ghats.
