Alastair Campbell has a long career in the Zimbabwe cricket team. The former left-handed batsman has played 60 Tests and 188 ODIs for the country in 11 years. Campbell is about to embark on another chapter in the Zimbabwe team, where his role is that of a father figure. His son Jonathan Campbell has been called up to the Zimbabwe cricket team.

Zimbabwe is coming to Bangladesh to play a five-match T20 series. The team announced the 15-member squad for this tour on Wednesday. Jonathan has been called up to this squad. The 26-year-old all-rounder is yet to play a match for his father’s team or his country. He has played 30 First Class, 39 List ‘A’ and 26 T20Is.

Jonathan is a top-order batsman, batting at number three in T20Is. This left-handed batsman handles the bowling duties well, doing regular leg spin. Jonathan, who was called up for the Bangladesh tour, and two young cricketers, Clive Madande and Brian Bennett, were in the Zimbabwe Emerging team at the African Games last month.

Tadiwanashe Marumani and pace-bowling all-rounder Faraj Akram return to the squad announced under Sikandar Raja. All the rest were in the Zimbabwe squad for the last T20I series against Sri Lanka last January.

Zimbabwe, who failed to qualify for the T20 World Cup, is coming to Bangladesh on April 28. The first three T20s will be held at Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on May 3, 5 and 7. The last two matches will be held at Mirpur Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium on May 10 and 12. At the end of this series, Bangladesh will play three T20Is against the World Cup hosts in the United States in the third week of May.
