Dhaka: The climate of the country is dominated by desert heat. Rainy winds have shifted towards China.

Meteorologists say that extreme weather is currently prevailing in the system. It will remain for another 10 days. Thunderstorms are less likely to occur in the next seven days. Chances of rain are also low till the 3rd of May.

When is the relief rain?
Rain may occur in the first week of May. However, there is no sign of heavy rainfall throughout the month. At this time, there are glimpses of thunderstorms and thunderstorms in central and eastern parts of the country including Dhaka. Even if there is no possibility of continuous or permanent rainfall, the temperature may drop a little, according to the meteorologist. Omar Farooq

Meteorologists say, according to their mathematical models, the temperature will not rise that much. It will be around 40 or 41 degrees Celsius. It can be said till the middle of the first week of May. Can’t really tell after that. In the first week of May, rain may occur in central, northern and eastern parts of the country. But that will not happen in Dhaka. Now the amount of water vapor has increased in the air. Even if the temperature is not very intense, the feeling of heat will increase, according to the meteorologist. Bazlur’s receipt. He said, relief rains for short duration will be available in May.

The average temperature is higher, which is not true
Meteorologist Dr. Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik says May is the hottest month. In our country in 1972 in Rajshahi the highest temperature of the country was recorded at 45.1 degrees Celsius. That is in May. May has 3 to 4 heat waves. In this case, there is no possibility of continuous rain or heavy rain.

Many people say that the temperature is high or the average temperature is high, which is not true at all. The average temperature did not rise either. The average temperature till April 23 is 36.2 degrees Celsius. So where did it grow? Temperatures are now 2 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal. In extreme weather, the temperature is 2 to 7 degrees Celsius higher. Temperatures are averaged over 30 years. So the 30 year average has not increased. Also, averages never give exact figures.

Since 2014, the heat has been felt more
At present, the heat wave of April and May lasts for seven days, 15 days, 23 days. The duration or duration of mild to moderate heat waves has increased especially since 2014. Because of this, common people think that the temperature has become unbearable. Panic is brewing. Many media are also making reports like this. As a result, fear is created among people. But the temperature is not unusual compared to before.

Three reasons for rain or wind
Thunderclouds are not formed because the amount of water vapor in the air is less than required. As a result, it is not raining. Water vapor comes from the ocean, that’s not happening. The reason behind this is the effect of El Nino. Due to El Nino being active in the South Pacific Ocean near Peru, less water vapor is coming from the Bay of Bengal, said meteorologist Dr. Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik.

If the temperature is high, it does not rain. Because the water vapor in the air cannot condense due to high temperature. As a result thunderclouds are not formed. Apart from this, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal are dominated by weather in the air of the country. Due to the extreme heat waves there, the air temperature of the country has increased. And the reason for the increase in temperature there is the Thar desert of Rajasthan, India. It is the hottest desert in the world. Meteorologist said that the hot air of Thar desert is coming to Bangladesh through Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal. Omar Farooq

He said that the rainfall in the country is due to the western low pressure. It originates in the Mediterranean Sea and enters the country’s system through Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India. In this case, if the temperature of those countries decreases, the temperature of Bangladesh also decreases. In April, there is no westerly low pressure in the Mediterranean Sea as before, which at this time comes towards Bangladesh.

On the other hand, the western low pressure created in the Mediterranean Sea has moved eastwards towards China. But there is heavy rain. As a result, rainfall is decreasing in all countries from Pakistan to Thailand and the temperature has increased, said meteorologist Md. Bazlur’s receipt.

He said, this happens when the air at the top of the atmosphere moves to the north at times. Meanwhile, the western low pressure was delayed. He blames the effect of climate change behind this.

The heat wave has been going on since the beginning of April. The Meteorological Office has also issued three heat alerts. A hit alert is still in effect. Although the extreme heat wave has passed, the intense heat wave is still flowing over most of the districts of the country. As a result, the government is announcing the closure of educational institutions. There is not much good news for the countrymen when public life is slow.

In the current season, the highest temperature of the country was recorded in Jessore on April 20 at 42.6 degrees Celsius. And the maximum temperature recorded in Dhaka is 40.4 degrees Celsius. On this day, the temperature was recorded at 42.3 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga, 41.7 degrees Celsius in Mongla, 41.6 degrees Celsius in Ishwardi, and 41.2 degrees Celsius in Khulna. Apart from this, mild to severe heat waves have also swept over other parts of the country. which still exists.

On April 17, 2023, the highest temperature recorded in the country in the previous nine years was 43 degrees Celsius at Ishwadi. And in May 2014, the highest temperature recorded in Chuadanga was 43.3 degrees Celsius.

On April 16, 2023, the maximum temperature in Dhaka was 40.6 degrees Celsius in the previous 58 years. The maximum temperature in Dhaka in 1965 was 42 degrees Celsius. Earlier in 1960, the maximum temperature of Dhaka was 42.3 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature recorded in Rajshahi was 45.1 degrees Celsius on 18 May 1972. This record has not been broken yet.
