Pakistan-New Zealand both aim to advance in the series

Lahore, April 24, 2024 (BASS): After the first three matches, the T20 series between Pakistan and New Zealand is tied 1-1. The two teams meet tomorrow with the goal of winning the fourth match and taking the lead in the series. Pakistan-New Zealand 4th T20I will start at 8:30 pm Bangladesh time in Lahore.
The first T20 of the series was abandoned in Rawalpindi after just 2 balls were played due to rain. Pakistan blew away New Zealand in the second match of the series at the same venue. Pakra took the lead in the series by winning by 7 wickets due to the great skill of the bowlers. Batting first, the Kiwis were bowled out for 90 runs. In reply, Pakistan won the match with 47 balls to spare.
New Zealand quickly turned around despite falling behind by 1-0. Mark Chapman’s excellent batting skills won the third match by 7 wickets, the Kiwis leveled the series. Batting first, Pakistan set New Zealand a target of 179 runs. Chapman’s 9 fours and 4 sixes scored 87 runs off 42 balls and left the field with a smile of victory. The Kiwis are without 9 of their first-row players to play the series against Pakistan due to the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).
New Zealand’s dream of taking the lead for the first time in the series with a great win in the third match. Chapman, the hero of the previous match, said, ‘The victory in the third match gave the team confidence. Our main goal now is to continue the winning streak and take the lead in the series. Pakistan is a strong team. We have to be careful and play our best cricket.’
Like the second match, Pakistan’s bowlers could not get into the water in the third. Pakistan captain Babar Azam is expecting a better performance from the bowlers in order to take the lead in the series. He said, ‘The main strength of our team is bowling. Bowlers have to perform consistently well. Hopefully, the bowlers will return to their best form. We can take the lead in the series only when the batting-bowling works together.’
Pakistan-New Zealand have faced each other 42 times in T20 so far. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s margin of victory is heavy. Pakistan has won in 22 matches. New Zealand won by 18. 2 matches were abandoned.
