Independence and National Day of Bangladesh and 50th anniversary of Bangladesh-Kuwait relations were celebrated in Kuwait. On this occasion, Bangladesh Embassy organized a reception at Crowne Plaza on Tuesday (April 23) at 7:30 PM.

More than 400 guests, including Ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps in Kuwait, high-ranking officials and dignitaries of Kuwait, members of the Bangladesh military contingent, members of the local press and media and members of the Bangladesh community in Kuwait attended the event. Kuwait’s Minister of Family and Children Affairs, Sheikh Firas Saud Al Malik Al Sabah, was present as the chief guest at the reception.

Ambassador of Bangladesh in Kuwait Major General Md. Ashikuzzaman and his wife Nahid Niaz Shilu and other embassy officials and their spouses welcomed the guests.

The colorful reception started with the national anthems of Bangladesh and Kuwait. Then Major General Md. In his welcome speech, Ashikuzzaman thanked the Chief Guest Sheikh Firas Saud Al Malik Al Sabah and State Minister for Cabinet Affairs of the State of Kuwait and the diplomatic, ambassador and distinguished guests of various countries.

The Ambassador of Bangladesh mentioned that, being a developing country, Bangladesh is currently the second largest economy in South Asia. In continuation of this, Vision 2041 ‘Smart Bangladesh’ has been announced to make Bangladesh a developed and knowledge-based rich country. To realize this vision, among many efforts, the Bangladesh government has established 100 Special Economic Zones to attract potential investors. The main potential sectors for investment in Bangladesh are garments and textiles, pharmaceuticals, shipbuilding, light engineering, ceramics, leather, agribusiness, ICT, energy sector and tourism.

On behalf of the Bangladesh government. Ashikuzzaman invited Kuwait and all friendly countries of the world to invest in the economic zone and share the benefits of mutual growth and prosperity.

The Ambassador expressed his deep gratitude to the Amir Sheikh Meshaal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, the Government and the people of the State of Kuwait for their continued support to the Bangladeshi citizens living in Kuwait.

Councilor (Political Secretary) Head of Embassy Mohammad Moniruzzaman presided over the event.
