‘Khalsa Sajna Day’ of Sikhs is celebrated with Nagar Kirtan

The 325th ‘Khalsa Sajna Utsav’, one of the festivals of Sikhism, was celebrated with Nagar Kirtan.

On Tuesday (April 23) at five o’clock in the afternoon, Nagarkirtan started from Gurdwara Nanak Shahi of Dhaka University under the initiative of Gurdwara Management Committee of Bangladesh.

It passes through University’s Rokeya Hall, Jagannath Hall and Fuller Road and ends back at the Gurudwara.

Patron of all Gurudwaras in Bangladesh and Guru Shriman Santa Baba Sukha Singh Ji who came from Punjab was present in it.

On the surface, a pickup is decorated with flowers for Nagarkirtan. There the religious books of Sikhs are placed in special status. The verses of this book are recited in kirtan. Many Sikh devotees from India attended the event.

KM Roy, an executive member of the Gurudwara in Bangladesh, told BanglaNews that the tenth Guru of Sikhism, Shri Guru Gobind Singh, founded the Khalsa Panth. The idea of ​​distinctive dress in Sikhism has largely been introduced since then.

He said, Khalsa Panth has certain code of conduct. By which one Sikh can be distinguished out of a thousand. As he started this event in the month of Baisakh in 1699, it is still held in the month of Baisakh.
