ICC delegation to Sylhet to see Women’s World Cup venue

This time the Promila T20 World Cup cricket tournament is being held in Bangladesh. The World Cup matches will be held in Dhaka’s Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium and Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in October this year.

A delegation of ICC has come to Bangladesh to monitor the condition of the venues ahead of the World Cup. A five-member ICC team visited the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. Earlier, the delegation visited Mirpur Sher Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Monday.

The members of the ICC delegation arrived at Sylhet Osmani International Airport at around 11 am on Tuesday. After that they went to visit the venue. Pitch consultant Andy Atkinson and his team members visited the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in a very good mood in the beautiful weather of sun and rain. The delegation also included – Women’s World Cup Event Operations Manager Gurjit Singh, Commercial & Sponsorships Laila Stein, Hospitality Alana White and Security Specialist David Musker. Besides the pitch, the delegation also visited the stadium facilities, dressing room and press box and five star hotel facilities.

The ICC delegation was accompanied by Sylhet District Sports Association General Secretary Mahi Uddin Ahmad Salim. He said, Sylhet International Cricket Stadium is on the T20 World Cup venue list. This is a routine visit by the delegation. They felt satisfied with Sylhet field. If there is any problem with the field, they will inform in writing.
