Zimbabwe has announced the squad for the five-match T20I series against Bangladesh. The biggest surprise in the team is Jonathan Campbell. The leg-spinning all-rounder, who is awaiting his debut, is the son of former Zimbabwe captain Alastair Campbell.

Zimbabwe will come to Bangladesh under the leadership of Sikandar Raja to play a five-match series next Sunday. Apart from Campbell, there are two changes to the team. Tadiwanshe Marumani and Faraz Akram are back.

The 26-year-old Jonathan is supposed to be more interested. He has 30 first-class matches, 39 List-A matches and 26 recognized T20Is. Jonathan’s father Alastair is one of the legends of Zimbabwean cricket. He shone as a left-handed opener in the nineties. He also led Zimbabwe in Tests and ODIs. During Campbell’s time, Zimbabwe was a formidable team in world cricket.

There are two veterans in the Zimbabwe squad, Shaun Williams and Craig Irvine. There is leg-spinning all-rounder Ryan Barle, who plays regularly in the BPL. Blessing Mujarabani and Richard Ngaravar’s pace is also very impressive. But Tendai Chatara did not have a place in the team.

The Bangladesh-Zimbabwe series will begin on May 3 in Chittagong. The second and third T20 matches will be played in Chittagong on May 5 and 7. The last two matches will be played in Dhaka on May 10 and 12.

Zimbabwe Squad for T20 Series: Sekander Raja (captain), Faraj Akram, Bennett Brien, Ryan Burl, Jonathan Campbell, Craig Irvine, Jaylord Gumbi, Luke Zangui, Clive Mandane, Tadiwanshe Marumani, Wellington Masakadza, Blessing Mujarabani, Ainley Ndulbu, Richard Ngaraba, Sean Williams.
