Friendship between Bangladesh and Qatar reached a new height. 5 agreements and 5 memorandums of understanding were signed on Tuesday to strengthen mutual cooperation between the two countries. These agreements were signed in the presence of visiting Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The agreements are: avoidance of double taxation and prevention of revenue evasion between Bangladesh and Qatar on income, cooperation in legal matters between the Government of Bangladesh and the State of Qatar, maritime transport between Qatar and Bangladesh, development and protection of mutual investment between Bangladesh and Qatar and Bangladesh-Qatar Joint Business Council. establishment In addition to the agreement, 5 Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) have been signed. MoUs were also signed on cooperation in the areas of manpower employment (labour), ports (MWANI Qatar and Chittagong Port Authority), education, higher education and scientific research, youth and sports and diplomatic training between Bangladesh and Qatar.

Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina witnessed the agreement signing ceremony held at the Prime Minister’s Office. Earlier, when the Emir of Qatar arrived at the Prime Minister’s office, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina welcomed the Emir of Qatar with a bouquet of flowers at the Tiger Gate. They also had a private meeting there. Later, the two leaders held a bilateral meeting on various issues of mutual interest. Before leaving the PMO, Aamir also signed the visitor’s book kept at Tiger Gate.

He then left the Prime Minister’s office and went to Bangabhaban. President Md. Sahabuddin hosted a lunch at Bangabhaban in honor of the Emir of Qatar. The Emir of Qatar arrived in Dhaka on a two-day state visit on Monday at the special invitation of Bangladesh President Sahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He left Dhaka for the country on Tuesday evening.

The agreements were signed: Noorul Majid Mahmoud Humayun, Minister of Industry of Bangladesh and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry of Qatar, signed the Mutual Investment Development and Protection Agreement between Bangladesh and Qatar. Besides, the double tax avoidance and revenue evasion prevention agreement between Bangladesh and Qatar was signed by Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi and Bangladesh’s Minister of State for Finance Wasika Aisha Khan.

Law Minister Anisul Haque and Qatar’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi signed an agreement on cooperation in legal matters between the Government of Bangladesh and the State of Qatar. Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi and Minister of State for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury signed the maritime transport-related agreement between Qatar and Bangladesh. Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani and Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) President Mahbubul Alam signed the agreement regarding the establishment of Bangladesh Qatar Joint Business Council.

The MoUs were signed: Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud and Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi signed. As well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Hasan Mahmud and Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi also signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between Bangladesh and Qatar in the fields of education, higher education and scientific research.

State Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury and Qatar’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi signed the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of Manpower Employment (Labor). Cooperation in the field of ports (MWANI Qatar and Chittagong Port Authority) was signed by Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi and Minister of State for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury.

In the ceremony, a road and a park in the capital Dhaka were named after the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The park is being constructed in the sand field of Kalsi area of ​​Mirpur under Dhaka North City Corporation. The road from Mirpur ECB Square to Kalsi Flyover is named after the Emir of Qatar. Henceforth the street and the park will be known as Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani Avenue and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani Park.
