24-hour ultimatum of journalists to Bangladesh Film Artists Association

Journalists have given a 24-hour ultimatum to the Bangladesh Film Artists Association in connection with the attack on journalists at BFDC. If it is not resolved within this period, it has been informed that the artists association will refrain from all kinds of news dissemination.

It is known that a delegation of journalists went inside the film association and spoke to the activists present. At that time, the president of the current committee, Misha Saudagar, said that they have accepted the 24-hour ultimatum given by the media workers. The ultimatum will be effective from Wednesday morning. At the same time, the artist association will start the investigation process from Wednesday. The film association has taken over the treatment of the journalists who were attacked. The association will compensate the workers whose parts have been damaged in this incident.

The swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected committee of the Bangladesh Film Artists Association was held on Tuesday. After swearing in the association’s office, newspaper journalist Mithun Al Mamun was interviewing actress Mayuri’s daughter. At that time, actor Shiva Shanu asked the journalist to leave.

When he did not want to go, Shanu pushed him out of the office. Meanwhile, other journalists present came forward to stop it. At this time, another leader of the association, Joy Chowdhury, yelled at the journalists saying ‘Mar Mar’. This started the attack on journalists. Journalists were beaten with everything from chairs to tree branches.

Eyewitnesses said that actor Shiva Shanu, Shilpi Samiti’s newly elected organizing secretary Joy Chowdhury and international affairs secretary Alexander Bo led the beating incident.

It is to be noted that Misha Saudagar was elected as President and Manowar Hossain Dipzal as General Secretary in the election of Bangladesh Film Artists Association held on April 19.
