Mymensingh: Heat alert is going on in Mymensingh like the rest of the country due to severe heat wave. The public life of city dwellers in this heat wave of Baisakh due to various reasons including the effect of climate change.

Meanwhile, the people disoriented by the intense heat waves are seen resting in the cool atmosphere of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Park on the banks of the old Brahmaputra in Mymensingh. Youth and laborers were prominent among them. Apart from sitting there to see the scenic form of Bengal floating on the Brahmaputra, there are various rides including a spectacular fountain, mini zoo, swing, train, magic boat for the entertainment of people of all ages including children and teenagers. Outside the park, there are various entertainment facilities including merry-go-round, charki, horse-cart tomtom.

However, entertainment-loving city dwellers complain that rows of permanent and temporary shops inside the park are spoiling the serene beauty of the park. A number of travel-hungry people visiting the park told BanglaNews that this park is the only place of relief for millions of people in the city. Many people call this place the lungs of the city. As a result, every day from dawn to 10 pm, people who are tired of the heat rush here. Also, on holidays or any festival, millions of people flock to this park. Also, health conscious people of the city visit the park every morning. But over the past one year, the park has been losing its serene and quiet heritage due to permanent and temporary food stalls.

Engineer Tanveer Ahmed, a travel enthusiast, told BanglaNews that this park is no longer the only entertainment place for city dwellers. The quiet atmosphere of the park is spoiled by food stalls and their noise and reckless bikers who make loud noises. As a result, sitting in this park does not give you peace of mind even if you get relief from the heat.

Advocate Shibbir Ahmed Liton, Founder General Secretary of Mymensingh Environment Protection and Development Movement, said that many people are upset with the fact that a large number of shops have been built in the park recently. Normally there might be some small scale shops in the park but now this park has turned into a food market.

In this regard, the Chief Executive Officer of Mymensingh City Corporation. Yusuf Ali said, various decoration initiatives have been taken to beautify the park. Also, cleaning is being done in the park every night to keep the environment of the park healthy.
