A colorful procession and book reading program was held at Rajshahi University (Rabi) on the occasion of ‘World Book Day’ recognized by UNESCO.

On Tuesday (April 23) at 10 a.m. in front of the university’s central library, the university-based arts and literature organization Gnanchakra organized this program.

It is known that, with the slogan of ‘lighting the light of knowledge and chasing away evils’, the rally went around the university’s Paris Road and ended at Shaheed Minar. After that students held book reading program in front of Shaheed Minar.

Mahir Islam, a student of the university’s Arabic department, told Jago News that ‘Gyanchakra’ is a campus-based art, literature and knowledge organization. We have a weekly chat where we read different books according to the topic. We discuss the great minds and learned scholars of world knowledge. A colorful procession and book reading program has been organized today on the occasion of ‘Book Day’.

Another member of the organization said, we get inspiration to read books through the programs organized by ‘Gyan Chakra’. There we can learn about the biographies of various philosophers, poets and writers and discuss their books. Our organization has organized this organization to advance a creative activity like book reading in this capitalistic world of raw currency.

Shahriar, a student who participated in the procession, told Jago News that we hope that our prejudices will be removed by reading books. Just as it is necessary to eat healthy and nutritious food to keep the body healthy, in the same way it is necessary to give food to keep the brain healthy, functional and active. Recent studies show that the habit of reading books is brain food.

World Book Day was celebrated globally for the first time in 1995 after being recognized by UNESCO. Although every year since 1923 April 23 is celebrated as Book Day in Spain. The original idea of Book Day comes from the Spanish writer Vicente Clavel Andrés.
