Emir of Qatar in a meeting with the Prime Minister

Dhaka: Visiting Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani sat in a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The meeting started on Tuesday (April 23) morning at the Prime Minister’s office.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina greeted him with flowers at the Tiger Gate when he reached the prime minister’s office at Tenjagao in the capital at 10:30 am.

After that, the two leaders sat in a private meeting in Shimul Hall of the Prime Minister’s office.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim will participate in a photo session at the Globe Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office after the private meeting.

After that, the Prime Minister and the Amir will hold a bilateral meeting with the representatives of the two countries at the Chameli Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office.

After the bilateral meeting, a number of MoUs are to be signed between the two countries in the presence of Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Karbi Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office.

This is the first high-level state visit from a Middle Eastern country after the Awami League formed the government for the fourth consecutive term under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after the January 7, 2024 elections.

This is the first visit of a Qatari emir to Bangladesh in the last two decades. Earlier in 2005, the then Emir of Qatar Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani visited Bangladesh.
