Inauguration of Exercise Tiger Lightning (TL)-2024 held

Dhaka, April 22, 2024 (BASS) : The opening ceremony of Exercise Tiger Lightning (TL)-2024 was held with the joint participation of Bangladesh Army and United States Pacific Army Command (USARPAC).
Bangladesh Army Quartermaster General Lieutenant General Md. Rajendrapur Cantonment Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operations Training Center (BIPSOT) today. Mojibur Rahman, Chief Guest inaugurated the exercise.
He said that this exercise was organized on the peace support program to make the participants efficient in the proper assessment of adverse security environment situation arising in the peacekeeping mission area, formulation of effective plans and taking emergency measures to meet the sudden challenges.
He also said that in addition to this, the exercise will involve experts from both countries on the US Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) and the UN Military Planning Process (MPP).
A Command Post Exercise (CPX) will be conducted on the subject.
In addition, through the exercise, selected members of the Bangladesh and US Army will be organized to exchange knowledge and experience on Counter Improvised Explosive Devices (CIED) Jas Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) etc., he said.
While announcing the inauguration of Exercise Tiger Lightning (TL)-2024, the Chief Guest said that Exercise Tiger Lightning will contribute effectively to strengthening the existing relationship between the Bangladesh Army and the US Army. It is undoubtedly a good field to learn from practical experience.
He also said that the Bangladesh Armed Forces have a rich history of conducting successful operations in hostile environments of United Nations peacekeeping missions. The US Armed Forces, on the other hand, have extensive experience operating successfully across the globe in a variety of security situations. In this case, the armies of both countries will benefit by exchanging experience with each other.
He said, he thanked Bipsot and the United States Army Pacific Command and the Oregon National Guard for planning this exercise well and wished the exercise an overall success.
On behalf of the US Pacific Army Command (USARPAC), Lt. Col. Joshua Long was present as a special guest on this occasion. Bipsot Commandant Major General gave the welcome speech. Nasim Parvez.
It should be noted that there is close cooperation between Bangladesh and the United States in the areas of regional and global security, counter-terrorism, disaster management and humanitarian assistance. Bangladesh is determined to deal with any global threat, including natural disasters, and has always worked closely with other partners including the United States. Bilateral and multilateral exercises in this field contribute significantly to the mutual exchange of expertise and experience. Keeping that goal in mind, Tiger Lightning-1 and 2 were organized in the United States in 2017 and 2021 and Tiger Lightning-3 and 4 in Bangladesh in 2022 and 2023. In continuation of this, this exercise is being held in Bangladesh for the fifth time.
