DMP News: Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) won the third place in the Asia Pacific (APAC) phase of the Huawei ICT competition. The announcement was made at the APAC Awards ceremony held in Jakarta, Indonesia on Saturday.
More than 1,000 undergraduate students from 25 universities in Bangladesh participated in the competition, which started last year. There was an opportunity to participate in Network Track, Cloud Track, Computing Track and Innovation Track groups. 10 students from each track are selected as winners of the Bangladesh phase based on their study and examination results.
Later, the top 12 from among them are divided into four groups to join the APAC stage. One group made up of students from Ruet joins the network track and the other group joins the computing track. Another team from Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CHUTE) competed in this track.
Another team from the same university joins the cloud track. Ruet’s team of three, participating in the network track group out of four teams, placed in the top three out of more than 6,400 students from 14 countries in the APAC division.
The winning team includes Shubham Agarwala, Rakesh Kar and Md. of Computer Science and Engineering Department of RUET. Mazharul Islam. Next month, the team will participate in the Global Round to be held in Shenzhen, China.
